About "The Days of Modern Art"
Originally Days of Modern Art (DSW) were a presentation of an alternative and competitive theatre from the movement of student theatres of the 80s. The evolution of a social thought and the development of democracy contributed to the fact that the festival was a review of politically involved art. Nevertheless, the dominant idea of gathering of people of theatre has been always present. Modern arts from the end of the 20th century and the first decade of the 21st has assimilated creating new aesthetic values. Within the Days of Modern Art apart from the theatre and always present music, such things as: film, dance theatre, literature, visual arts, art, advertisement, street art, etc. have appeared. We are the pioneers of successful broadcasting of the radio and television theatre. We also do a project called a presentation of modern drama. A complex artistic concept of the festival let us host not only some prestigious theatre groups or musical and visual projects, but also new forms which crossed the boarders of a theatrical experiment and communication between the masterpiece and the spectator. This year’s Days of Modern Art festival offers more music because except for concerts some theatres are going to perform together with music bands. We are interested in the condition of a modern human. Moreover, we will see the strength of a women’s nature and difficult love. On the 29th May 2009 we invite to take part in an artistic parade “Three Ages of Woman and Death” prepared by KTO Theatre especially for DSW Festival. “Faust” – a theatrical show by A Part Theatre is also a Polish premiere. It is worth mentioning that we have hosted Teatr Łaźnia Nowa and Teatr Komuna Otwock for the first time. Within this year’s DSW we encourage you to participate in another experiment, that is in “Krapp’s Last Tape” by S. Beckett. Firstly, you will just listen on the Radio Theatre and then you will watch it on the Television Theatre.
