Bialystok Cultural Centre invites to the 5-th edition of INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL ZubrOFFka.

Over a span of 5 years our Festival has evolved from a small, cosy thing taking place in FAMA club to the biggest film event in the north-east Poland. Therefore, we hope this year it can go in the direction and reach the level we intended it to achieve!

Looking back, we can notice something which hasn't changed since the beginning, it's the Festival's fantastic, lively-reacting audience (in 2009, about 4000 people attended the Festival events!) as well as excellent, diverse films.

Festival ZUBROFFKA is an open event not restricted by anything, respecting diversity and variety so characteristic for the region of Podlasie, it's a place bringing together artists open to the WORLD, PEOPLE  who have a sense of humour , who

value NATURE and its products. The festival tries to provide a platform for exchanging ideas and thoughts, which will enable creative meetings of artists from eastern and western countries. Therefore we are visited by artists from Belarus, the USA, Latvia, the UK, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Germany, Russia, Poland, both professionals and amateurs.

The screenings and accompanying events, just like in the previous years, are going to take place in FORUM cinema and FAMA club, as well as in other partner venues, such as University in Bialystok, Bialystok railway station, Art School in Suprasl, "Borderland Centre" in Sejny. During the Festival apart from the competition screenings we aim to present a series of film and music attractions from all over the world.

In 2010 we intend to organize the following competitions:

INTERNATIONAL FORMAT:

• Competition EASTWARD WINDOW  - the competition for the best independent film from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Russia, Slovakia, etc. - it's directed to filmmakers from former socialist countries - independent artists, students and amateurs. The very name of the contest refers to charming windows of Podlasie region as well as to the fact that our city uniquely "hangs" between  the East and West.
• Competition  WHOLE WIDE WORLD - directed to artists from all over the world - with the exception of  those participating in national and EASTWARD WINDOW  contests - the competition will strive to present other regions of the world through short films made by independent artists, students and amateurs.

NATIONAL FORMAT:

• Competition STUDENTS - competition for the best student film made in Polish film and art schools
• Competition AMATEURS - competition directed to amateur artists  making their auteur films although they have not graduated from any film school
• Competition INDEPENDENT - competition directed to independent artists, film and art school graduates making their auteur films

In 2010 the competitors may expect attractive prizes: FESTIVAL GRAND PRIX is 1000 EUROS, 1st  PRIZE in each competition is 500 EUROS.

Additionally, in each competition we intend to grant 2nd and 3rd Prize (money or film equipment), the AUDIENCE AWARD - WILD BISON and Honourable Mentions (DVD discs, film gadgets, etc.)

There will be special awards for the best Animated, Documentary and Feature film.

There will also be awards for the audience.

The IVth  INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL

INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL ŻubrOFFka is open festival that respects distinctness and variety so characteristic for Podlasie, it is the meeting place of  open-minded artists, people with sense of humor, valuing nature and its creations. Our event is trying to be a platform of exchanging ideas and thoughts that will give possibility for creative meetings for people from The West and the East. The place for film show will be Forum Cinema and for accompanying events club Fama and other friendly places like Bialystok University and train Station PKP in Bialystok. Besides competitions we will prepare attractive film's selection from other festivals as well  energetic concerts.Dear Filmmakers, Film Studios, Schools and Organizations,
